What are the requirements for my dog to attend day care at K9 Korner?

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our furry guests, we require dogs to be up-to-date on vaccinations, flea and tick prevention, and to undergo a brief behavioral assessment. This allows us to accommodate various temperaments and ensure a harmonious environment.

Male dogs over 9 months of age must be neutered to attend doggy day care and breed meets, while female dogs can attend as long as they’re not in season.

Can I bring my dog’s meals and treats?

Absolutely! You’re welcome to bring your dog’s breakfast, lunch or dinner as well as treats to ensure they maintain their regular diet and routine while at K9 Korner. Please label all items with your dog’s name for easy identification.

How does K9 Korner handle emergencies?

Our staff is trained in pet first aid and emergency procedures. We have a detailed emergency protocol in place and are partnered with a local veterinarian for any urgent needs. Your dog’s safety is our top priority, and we always ensure prompt attention to any medical issues that arise.

What is the ratio of staff to dogs?

We maintain a low staff-to-dog ratio in accordance with government requirements to ensure that each dog receives the individual attention and care they need. Our team is dedicated to providing a safe, engaging, and fun environment for all dogs.

Is there a trial period or introductory day for new dogs?

Yes, we offer an introductory day for new dogs to get accustomed to the environment and for us to assess their temperament. This trial day helps your dog feel and allows us to tailor our care to their specific needs.

My dog isn’t neutered, can they attend doggy day care, or breed meets and private play sessions?

Un-neutered male dogs under the age of 9 months can attend any sessions; however, after that, they would need to be neutered to attend the doggy day care or breed meets. Owners can organize a private hire for their un-neutered dog and its friends, but we take no responsibility for any pups that might arise! Female dogs can attend all day care and events, other than when in season.

Do you collect and drop off dogs?

We’re afraid we don’t offer a collection and drop-off service as this would mean some dogs spend over an hour in transport each way. Our staff will be on-site from 7am to 6pm to fit in with your working schedule, and if you’re delayed due to work, we will of course wait for you! Any collections after 6pm will be subject to an extra charge.

Do you take ad-hoc / on-the-day bookings, or do I need to book in advance?

We understand that life doesn’t always go to plan, and you may need to find day care for your dog on short notice! We welcome ad-hoc and on-the-day bookings; however, this depends on how many dogs we have booked in and our licensing limits. We recommend using our online booking system to check availability as soon as possible.

Do you take cash payments?

We do not accept cash; payments are made via our online booking system in advance or by card reader when your dog is dropped off.

Will I still be charged if I need to cancel doggy day care or private hire sessions?

We understand that things can change at the last minute. If you cancel within 48 hours, you will be charged 50% of the booking. Cancellations within 24 hours will be charged at full rate. For cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance, payments can remain as credit on the system for future bookings or be refunded.

Do you offer grooming services as part of the day care experience?

We focus on providing an enriching day care environment, but we highly recommend Priory Paws Dog Grooming and Training Centre, located at 40 Priory Street, Bedford, United Kingdom, MK40 1HS. Contact them at 07960 855158 or priorypawsdoggrooming@mail.com.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated to attend a play session?

Yes, all dogs must be up to date on their vaccinations and must not attend if they have had the kennel cough vaccine in the last 2 weeks. Proof of vaccination is required before your dog’s first visit to any breed meet.

Do you accept puppies?

Yes, we accept puppies who are at least 16 weeks old, fully vaccinated and in good health.

Does my dog need to be spayed or neutered?

For breed meets, yes male dogs over 9 months old must be neutered, while female dogs must not attend if in season. For private hires, intact males can attend, however it is up to the owners to ensure no females are in season and all dogs attending get on well.

What is there for my dog to play with?

The 24m polytunnel has a large ball pit and a smaller one for our shorter legged friends, a slide, tug of war toys and climbing frames, while the 30m outdoors area has a sand pit, plus more tug of war toys and climbing frames. There’s loads of space for zoomies, while the humans can relax at one of our two chunky picnic tables, nestled at either end of the outside area under its own pergola.

Can we bring our kids along too?

Of course! Children must be supervised at all times though and not harass or scare any dogs attending. Please don’t let them climb over the walls of the polytunnel decking area. Parents will be held liable for any damage caused.

Is the site secure / escape proof?

Yes, the outside area has 7ft mesh fencing as well as dig proof fencing. Please let us know in advance if your dog is skilled at jumping, so we can ensure the front door of the polytunnel is closed for extra security.

Is there anywhere to keep dry if it rains?

Yes, our 24m polytunnel! There’s no need for play sessions to be cancelled due to the weather, everyone can stay dry in the polytunnel, plus there’s a pergola with picnic table either side of the 30m outdoor area to provide shelter from rain or sun. There’s no grass too, so no muddy paws or wet jeans / shoes!

I want to bring my dog to a breed meet but they’re very nervous.
Will it be safe?

We have a number of nervous dogs attend breed meets, some of them surprised their owners and were soon running around with their new bestie, while others take things a little slower. We go at the dog’s pace, and nothing will be forced on them. The outside area can be split into three separate sections, so if your dog needs some space alone, it’s there for them. The polytunnel also has a number of areas that can be sectioned off. The owner is on hand to oversee breed meets and will be happy to help you and your dog at any time.

 Do you do grooming?

Unfortunately not, but we do recommend Priory Paws Dog Grooming & Training Academy, 40 Priory Street, Bedford MK40 1HS.

 Do you do day care?

Not yet, but we hope to in the near future! We will be applying for our day care license as soon as possible. Keep an eye on our social media platforms for updates!

How many dogs / humans can attend a private hire?

You can bring up to ten dogs, plus their owners and friends / family members.

Yes we do! We’ve teamed up with The Barking Bakery to offer a birthday package where, for an additional fee, the birthday boy / girl will receive one of their yoghurt topped party cakes along with 10 bags of their cheesey pupcorn bags for guests. The venue will also be decked out with bunting and birthday banners both inside the polytunnel and the outside play area.
